Makeing the space my own.

Ok so today I did a little cleaning and organizing.
hanging on the wall is my iron always in reach, I just pull a little and it's right there. Then my two squares are on a nail.
The little lamp is nice but not a lot of light so I'm thinking about getting those lights that you stick to the wall and push on to turn on. Not sure yet but I do need better light there. the striped cloth is for ironing on of course the cutting mat works good also. And yes that's a roll of twine it's only teperary just until I decide what to do with the light's . But I think I am now up to eight blocks maybe. My daughter even used my space tonight to help her friend with a holloween costume. I will figure it out soon and let you know. such fun.

And the Winner is!

The results of the drawing is. Well first let me tell you that my 9 year old is the won who picked the winner. She drew the number so here it is # 3 or Cathy @ cathynellsquilts.blogspot.com. Send me your address and I'll get these in the mail as soon as I can. Congradulations.

My Dilemma

Ok so now as you know I'm a writer and last year my husband bought me a beautiful roll top desk to work at. I love it and love sitting at it. But now I have the other desk with my sewing machine out where I can sew anytime I want. The Dilemma is which do I do? I realized the problem this morning when I couldn't desiced to check my email or work on my project. e-mail won out this time. but who knows about next time.
Computer or Sewing my head is going to explode.

first 3 done

These are the first three blocks i've done with the autum fabric I just got. I really like the way they are turning out.

My new sewing corner

This is my new desk for sewing
Cool huh. the bottom drawer
is actully a seat and the cushin
comes off for storage inside.
I found it at a place called
Tuesday Morning. I paid less
than $80.00 for it. My husband
hasn't seen it yet.

Here is the new fabric I got yesterday.
I think what I'll do is cut the pictures and
words apart and make them into blocks with the green.
and then filler blocks of the other two fabrics. This will be
my first fall quilt. wish me luck. By the way tomorrow is the
last day for the give away.

Ok so here is the finished top. I like it
I found the patteren on someones else's
blog and really liked the way it looked.
what do you think. I'm thinking about
calling it cup stacking. It looks like cups
to me. Like the ones the kids use in
cup stacking. This is one of the first times
I was able to really match up my corners.
yea me.

learned a new block

These are my first two Wonky Blocks.
I like the block with the striped center the
best. I learned something about this block.
I don't know about you but I wasted alot of
excess fabric on this block but I like the way
it looks when it's done. The problem was that
I was trying to match the ends up exactly and
you can't do that with this patteren. It's fun to
do once you get the hang of it.

Annika's bag

Annika and her first project
on Mommy's sewing machine
she did it all by her self. and is
quite proud of her bag.

Super Exciting jumping up and down News!

I have been writing for years and been trying to get my work published for a while now. I heard today that the Literary Agency where I sent my manuscript wants to represent me in getting it published. Yea Me. (clap, clap, clap) I am beside myself with joy and excitment.

Give Away

There are 49 blocks here.
These were one of those projects
you start and lose intrest in. My
sister gave these already made to
me, I just wanted to share them
with someone who, may enjoy them.
If you add me to your blog list and let me
know then I'll put your name in the drawing.
to take place in about a week or so. Thanks. Blocks are 9 in x 9 in.

Oops.

I don't know if this has ever happened to you. I packed up my sewing to work while my three girls had their piano lessons. When I opened the bag I realized I had everything except for the needle I needed. So I went to the store and baught a new package of needles and went back to the lessons. Pulled out my sewing and worked for maybe 35 minutes. Now I have double the needles I really need. Oh well at least I'll have extra. I spent the gas and the money for the needles just for about 35 minutes of time to quilt. Wow! I'm pathetic.

Fresh baked bread.

One of the best smells out there is the aroma of fresh homemade bread as it bakes. Then you toast a piece and smother it with butter and homemade blackberry jam. That's what I'm having for dinner tonight. yum.

Sean's Quilt

This is the top of my son's Christmas presant, he attends BYU in Provo Utah, so I made this in the school colors. All the patterened fabric was baught at University Mall in Provo at Deseret Book which by the way has a fabric department in the back of the store. How cool is that. the boarders I just got the other day. I think he will love it, his favorite color is blue. So it's perfect.

Beehive window

The stainglass window was taken on Temple Square in Utah.
I don't remember what building it's from but I think it would
be an amazing quilt. But I'm not at that level yet, but maybe
someday in the far out future.

I got this international fabric a year ago but don't know what to do with it yet.

My $5.00 fat quater find at good will, couldn't pass it up now what to use it on. I don't know yet.

Cala Lilies

This took a long time to sew the black piping down by hand. But I love the way this turned out. I think it was the right choice to use blue around the edges it brings out the blue in the window panes. This quilt was designed by my sister Christina, the only change I made to it was adding the black trim she didn't have it on her's.
