I made this for Tyler Flowers, he is a friend to my two oldest girls and came with us to the
midnight premire event for the last Harry Potter movie on the 15th of July. It was a wonderful
night and we all had a great time. When we saw someone with a knitted Gryffindor scarf and I
said I thought I could do that he asked me to make him one so I did and here is the end
results. I just have a dislike for the way the opposite color shows when you bring it up the side of
the work. but I love the scarf no matter what. it is more than 2 yards long.

This is my latest project. knitting a blanket for my daughter Sarai to take with her to collage. She turns 18 in just over two weeks and then graduates from High School and then she will be heading off to collage in the fall. So far it is about half way done. It makes me think of icecream.

I love this. I always use the pencils but they always brake. even if you buy the more spendy ones they still brake. So I decided to try this and yea it works. ya pushe the yellow button at the bottom and you can replace the chalk. I got this kit for I think around $12.00 but it was totally worth the money. I also got new sheers, titaium blades. yippie.

This is from a serious of pictures my husband took last night so I can chose 3 to send to the publisher for promotion material and for the back of the book. I don't like the way I look in picture. not photogenic like my girls. Now to the other thing I wanted to tell you. I was sent a bunch of things telling me about the next step and one of the options for me is to sent the publisher a list of e-mails of friends and family to recieve an e-mail announcement about the release of my book. Ok so as I said before I was offered a contract to publish my book. I had a friend look it over he is a contract lawyer. He said it was a good contract and fair so I signed it this morning and sent it back to them. My book "A disappointing Homecoming" is about Luke James return from the middle East after being wounded in the war. His journey home takes many turns with faith building expirences along the way. I believe it is one of my best. I've written 10 books and about 10 children's books. But I have been working on getting published for about 2 1/2 years now. This has been the most amazing week I've ever had. So we will just wait now for production to start. Yea me.

The publishing company that I sent my manuscript to called me today and said they want to publish it. Yea me. My sister and her co-worker jumped up and down at work for me today. Yea them. I am beside myself today but trying to remember that it's not published yet. I still have to read the contract again and wait to hear from the lawyer I e-mailed it to before I agree to it. But either way a traditional company wants to publish my book and thinks it has a chance. yea.

The first block is done. I love it when I put them together I think
I might use another thin strip of the tan/yellow between the

blocks. Opinions are welcome as always.It was my sisters idea

to put a strip around the block to bring out the yellow in the cats.

I love the idea, i really like these blocks. I think it is one of my

favorites I've done in a while.

side and the kittys on the other. I also baught

the holloween fabric to put with the owls. The

bright cat fabric I already had. I fell in love with

it as soon as I saw it and really got excited about
doing it. they will be wall hangings.

I got this done last night. I like it and so far
I can't get her to snuggle with it yet, but hopfully at nap time she will. It's not a real good picture but the edge is what covers the back as well. I just folded it over and blanket stiched it on. Now they both have one.

Greek Cinnamon Stewed Chicken Recipe created by Cat Cora

Try chef Cat Cora's recipe for Greek
Cinnamon Stewed Chicken, a savory entrée from her complete seven-day menu.
Ingredients:
Serves 4
· 1 chicken (2 1/2 to 3 pounds), cut into 8 pieces (legs, breast and thighs)
· 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
· 2 tsp. kosher salt
· 1 tsp. freshly ground black pepper
· 5 cloves garlic , peeled and minced
· 2 Tbsp. extra-virgin olive oil
· 1 large yellow onion , peeled and coarsely chopped
· 2 cups water
· 1 can (6 ounces) tomato paste
· 1 Tbsp. dried Italian herb seasoning
· 1 cup orzo , cooked according to package directions
· 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Preboil water with sea salt.Pat the chicken dry with paper towels. A wet chicken will cause the oil to splatter while the chicken is sautéing. Mix the cinnamon, salt and pepper in a small bowl. Rub the chicken pieces on all sides with the seasoning.Heat the olive oil in a large, nonreactive, deep skillet over high heat. A 12-inch skillet with sides about 2 1/2 to 3 inches high will allow you to brown all the chicken at once. If you don't have a skillet large enough, brown them in two batches using 1/2 the oil for each batch. What's important is that the chicken isn't overcrowded, which would cause them to steam rather than brown.Add the chicken to the oil and brown for about 4 to 5 minutes on each side. Turn the pieces using a metal spatula, as they have a tendency to stick to the pan. Remove the pieces when they are well browned on all sides.Mince three of the garlic cloves. Lower the heat to medium-high, and add the onions and minced garlic. Cook for about 3 minutes, stirring constantly, until the onions have softened and are a rich golden brown. Add about 1/2 cup of the water and scrape the bottom of the pan with a spatula or spoon to deglaze the pan, loosening any particles stuck on the bottom.When the water has evaporated, add the remaining 1 1/2 cups of water, tomato paste, Italian seasoning and remaining 2 garlic cloves, minced.Return the chicken to the pan. The liquid should cover about 3/4 of the chicken pieces. Cover the pot and simmer over medium-high heat for about 30 to 40 minutes, or until the chicken is tender and thoroughly cooked. If the sauce becomes too thick, it can be thinned with a little more water. Season the finished sauce with kosher salt and pepper to taste. Serve over orzo, cooked according to package directions, and sprinkle Parmesan cheese on top.

Wow! it's good to be back. My internet has been done since Sunday. Our modem went bad and had to replace it. It's funny how you get use to something and how hard it is not to have it anymore. My girls were going crazy without the internet. My husband baught a new modem last night but couldn't get it set up, so I had to call quest and have them talk me through the set up. I did it, yea me. So anyway good morning ladies. I'm glad to be back on.

This is what I see on my way in the morning to take my high schooler to seminary every day. This is how it looks on the way to school. I've been meaning to take a picture of it for a while now but kept forgetting to take my camera. I think it looks like a giraffe's neck and head. Cool huh. It's been there since just before the holidays. now they've added a heart to the very top.

This is me and my Aunt Linda.
Her mom and my Grandpa got married in 1963
the same year my parents got married. So she
has always been my Auntie. I reconnected with
her via-e-mail a couple of years ago. Well this picture
was taken while we were in Utah taking our
oldest to collage (BYU) While I was visiting with her
for the first time since I was a little girl.
she sent me home with wonderful pictures

and history of our family that I treasure. Well
I turned on my e-mail this morning and found
one from her. She has been going through papers
of Grandpa's and this time found an album my
Mother had made years ago for my brother Mike.
she sent it to me this morning along with a few other
things she found. I'm so excited to see it. She also
said she found a picture of Mike, Tina, Me, and Shiela
standing or sitting in a sunflower field. but she won't
have a copy for me until after Feb. 18th. It was stuck
in an album and couldn't remove it. Oh my gosh
I can't wait to get it. Isn't she just the cutest thing
you ever saw.

They came. I ordered this from Keepsake Quilting I'm not sure what I'll do with the yard of fabric. But the 50 5in squares I'm going to use on the country town blocks. I think I'm going to cut them in half and sew them in strips. not sure yet still thinking about it. any idea's. All 50 blocks are different, well maybe two have doubles but mostly there is 50 different fabrics in just the right shades for my country town quilt. Yea me.

Sarai is having a sleep over, so I can't go to bed yet.
Two of the girls got paintings tonight. In their conversation
tonight one girl did not the difference between a real polorbear
and a mascot at the zoo last week. The girls all had a good laugh
about it and I got an Idea. Then I put him in a jungle. hence the name.
when the other girls saw it she wanted a sea otter. I'm not sure how much
it looks like one but she loves it so that is all that matters. She is even
trying to think of a name for it funny huh, teenage girls, make me wonder
sometimes.

Has anyone else thought about what they want to do differently this year? I can't decide what I want my new years reselution to be.
1. to start yoga
2. read my sunday school lesson each week.
3. get more sleep, as in go to be earlier.
4. accept the fact that I can't spell and use spell check all the time.
5. get a book accepted by a publisher.( im at the mercy of others with this one)
6. be more forgiving of my spouses shortcomings and my own (oops, forgot don't have any)
7. improve my memory.
8. give up the idea of instant prefection.

I think I need to pick one because my brain may explode if I try to change to much to fast.

I started doing this when my daughters were little and all their barbie clothes fell apart after just a week or so. I found that I could make better quality clothes from my scraps so I did. They've had clothes for years that are still together. What a wake up.

This is what I woke up to this morning.
It is undisturbed and you can see we
got at least 6 in. It so reminds me of
High School in LaPine Oregon. I don't
think we ever had a winter with out
less than 5 feet of snow. Every year
here it amazes me when the schools
close with only an inch of snow and in
LaPine they didn't every shut down no
matter how much snow we got. even 23 years later I remember the winters
there with great fondness. My big brother Mike (gone now) use to love to
walk beside me going from our mothers to our grandmothers and shove me
into the snow bank along the side of the road. He got great fun doing this, I on
the other hand was buried over my head. you see the snow plow had already
been by so the snow bank was much deeper than the 5 feet that had fallen.
Such fun days.

We tried to go up to Tacoma yesterday and had to turn around and come home. The freeway was just too hard to drive on. In the hour we were attemping to go up we saw at least four cars on the side of the road and two stopped to put on chains and one accident. So we turned around and headed home to Vancouver. At one point a big rig drove by us and our front windshield was completely covered with mud this is the aftermath.

for my son who attends the Y for Christmas.
It helps that blue is his favorite color and the
schools colors. I'm excited for him to take

It is so quite in my house this morning, I like it this way, of course it's only going to last a couple more minutes when I have to wake up my youngest for school. Now that my husband has changed jobs after being with the first company for 17 years I'm still getting used to his new schudale. It's like this, the girls and I have a great rutine down and now everything is different. He's home later in the mornings, He used to be gone just as the girls were getting up but now he doesn't leave until 7:30 mon-thur. and it's hard he disruptes their rutine. But we are dealing with it. Friday he goes in early so rutine is normal. Well it's about time to break the peace and quite of my little world. and believe me it will be shatterd when Annika is up and about.

Water Color lessons

Ok so I know this isn't quilting but my sister wanted to see the water colors I did several years ago. Most are from the lesson book that came with the paints I bought. Some how ever I tried to venture out on my own yea not quite as good. I think I will have to practice a lot more to be able to do this with out a map so to speak.

Ok, So remember my jump up and down exciting news. Well the Literary Agency that wanted to publish my book turned out to be a scam company, Thank Goodness I found out before I went with them. Well sence then I've heard from a couple more places who like my work the only thing is they want me to pay $4,000.00 up front. That's money I don't have so I kept sending my book out. Well last week a traditional agency requested the first five pages. That's good news, that means the aqusition editor like it and is sending it on to an agent. Yea me. It will be a while before I hear back at least several weeks. At the same time I send one of my childrens books out as well and they said they'd like to work with me, I just need to find an illustrator or go with one they work with and pay $100.00 plus per illustration. I have a live in illustrator so I will only have to pay a fraction of that if they like her work. We sent them a sample of her work, it will be at least a week or two before we know. My 15 year old Sarai is a very gifted artist. So everyone keep your fingers crossed, unless your quilting then keep your toes crossed. Here is the sample of her work I sent to the agency. what do you think.

Christmas Kaleidoscope

Ok so this is my new block. I was trying to find a block to use all the soccor fabric I have for my husbands quilt. I think this will be a nice for that. I was just trying it out on my christmas fabric first. I kind of like it so I think I'll finish off at lest 6 and make a wall hanging. Although I'm not sure if I like the white to much. Well anyway. Oh yea, I burnt my nuckle in the process and it really hurts. getting a blister. Oh well no pain no gain. I got the patteren from a book I had called Quilts! Quilts! Quilts! second edition.

Army Pink

I've decided to make all my kids something
homemade for Christmas.

This is for my Annika who loves anything army.
The frog is very lopsided but thats what I was
going for. I wanted something that looked home
made and no patteren. Why I'm not sure I just

All sewn together now I think for the border I'll sew the left over strips into one and use that, it will be all the pastels together. I like the idea, how about you. The top has taken me such a long time to do. I'm sure i started it at least 4 or 5 years ago. but because I'd start another project this would get put away. So I've been trying to clean out a little and pulled it out again. Yea, I'm sure glad I did.

needle point flowers

Well I decided what to do with the
pastel's I had.

My mother had these blocks
just sitting for years and some time
she gave them to me. There are more
but they are the state flower & bird
on each block. I just did the flower
blocks. And yes I did all the needle
point my self.

How many of you out there like
to needle point, I sometimes think
it's a dying art. I just think that
sometimes if it's done right it can
be so beautiful. I love these blocks
and can't wait to see what they
look like all sewen together.

There's a story behind this fabric. My sister and I took a trip to Roseburg two years ago to visit our Aunt Lona, while there we went to the locol quilt shop. We had so much fun the next year we went to LaPine to visit our mother and also went to the quilt shop there, a very nice place by the way. I got this fabric there and started working on it in our hotel room. We spent about three hours just quilting and talking it was a neat expirence. So were planning another trip for next July to see our brother memorial stone in Newport Oregon, and of course we'll hit the quilt shops along the way. I just finished this part of it today after taking apart what I did by hand and redid it on the machine for a better look and a straighter stich. I love it but now I just have to decide which color to use as the border. Yellow, blue or Green. I'll leave it hanging there while I decide. I have a thing from cowboy quilts. Actully I just love cowboys!

Ok so today I did a little cleaning and organizing.
hanging on the wall is my iron always in reach, I just pull a little and it's right there. Then my two squares are on a nail.
The little lamp is nice but not a lot of light so I'm thinking about getting those lights that you stick to the wall and push on to turn on. Not sure yet but I do need better light there. the striped cloth is for ironing on of course the cutting mat works good also. And yes that's a roll of twine it's only teperary just until I decide what to do with the light's . But I think I am now up to eight blocks maybe. My daughter even used my space tonight to help her friend with a holloween costume. I will figure it out soon and let you know. such fun.

My Dilemma

Ok so now as you know I'm a writer and last year my husband bought me a beautiful roll top desk to work at. I love it and love sitting at it. But now I have the other desk with my sewing machine out where I can sew anytime I want. The Dilemma is which do I do? I realized the problem this morning when I couldn't desiced to check my email or work on my project. e-mail won out this time. but who knows about next time.

Computer or Sewing my head is going to explode.

Here is the new fabric I got yesterday.
I think what I'll do is cut the pictures and
words apart and make them into blocks with the green.
and then filler blocks of the other two fabrics. This will be
my first fall quilt. wish me luck. By the way tomorrow is the

Ok so here is the finished top. I like it
I found the patteren on someones else's
blog and really liked the way it looked.
what do you think. I'm thinking about
calling it cup stacking. It looks like cups
to me. Like the ones the kids use in
cup stacking. This is one of the first times
I was able to really match up my corners.

learned a new block

These are my first two Wonky Blocks.
I like the block with the striped center the
best. I learned something about this block.

I don't know about you but I wasted alot of
excess fabric on this block but I like the way
it looks when it's done. The problem was that
I was trying to match the ends up exactly and
you can't do that with this patteren. It's fun to
do once you get the hang of it.
